This Oecophylla species is called the Asian weaver ant. There is also an Australian weaver ant with the same species name. The workers of this variant, however, are consistently terracotta-colored. We raise O.smaragdina every year. We would be happy to take you with us.

Description:

At the beginning of every keeping, it is a good idea to carry out regular checks. Even though predominantly claustral founding queens should be able to found their nests "as undisturbed as possible" and need peace and quiet, it is possible to check on them at dusk without any further problems.


After my first inspection, I was able to find between 5 to 10 eggs and some larvae.
